(NOTE: Sorry for the delay in getting this up. But we went over it extensively in-class, and I spoke with some of you one-on-one afterwards, so hopefully there weren't any lingering questions. I'll be sure to update this after class with the current weekly assignment.)
Self-Portrait #1: Create a straightforward self-portrait, in just graphite pencil, from direct observation, and drawn at actual size.
Self-Portrait #2: Embellish the first self-portrait with an illustration based on your name, using the letters in your name and the way those letters look. Consider the shapes of the letterforms, and find possibilities that indicate something meaningful about you. Full color, in any medium or with process you wish, but I want an 11"x17" reproduction.
Conceptual Exercise #1: Create the 10x10 grid of archetypes as discussed in class, combine your characters using ink or some other black and white / grayscale medium.
